Join our team! Alliance Française Dublin (AFD) aims to promote French culture and provide a space for intercultural exchange between Ireland and the cultures of the French-speaking world. It is a registered Irish charity, employing 50 people. With over 3,000 students a year, we are the second largest Alliance in Europe, after Paris and Brussels, the 19th in the world.

Due to the high demand from our learners, we are always on the lookout for FLE teachers.
Position:
- Teach French to a wide range of students at levels A1 to C1, either face-to-face or co-modally, at our premises.
- Implement a modern pedagogy, based on a communicative approach and the pedagogical progression of the Alliance Française de Dublin;
- Evolve in a competitive and dynamic multicultural context, with a reactive and demanding public;
- Participate in meetings and training sessions;
- Participate in pedagogical development projects;
- Participate in the general activities of the Alliance Française de Dublin.
Skills and training:
- Training: Master MEEF, M1 FLE, DAEFLE, DPAFP
- Current presence in Ireland desirable;
- Professional experience in teaching FLE to young learners preferred;
- Good communication skills, initiative and adaptability;
- Demonstrate dynamism, enthusiasm, involvement, flexibility and cultural openness;
- DELF-DALF examiner/corrector accreditation would be a plus;
- Versatility: openness to innovative teaching practices and teaching different types of classes would be appreciated.
Contractual conditions
- Flexible hours contract
- Group lessons: firstly evenings 6:30-8:30 pm or Saturdays for children
- Individual lessons: variable, according to demand
- Remuneration: Precise salary conditions will be specified after the interview for shortlisted candidates.

Alliance Française Dublin (AFD) was founded in 1960 and is located in the heart of Dublin city centre.
AFD is a language school, an examination centre, a training centre for teachers, a cultural centre with 2 public spaces: The French Library and Café Madeleine. Its building, spanning over 5 levels, is listed. It is an Irish registered Charity.
The Purpose:
- Supervise and conduct all tasks related to facility management
- Ensure the smooth running of operation
- Ensure the safety of the staff, student and visitors
Reporting:
The Facility Operator will report directly to the HR & Operations Manager.
Key Areas of responsibility:
Security and Safety
- Walk through the building to check for any immediate maintenance issues or safety hazards.
- Ensure all exits and emergency routes are clear and accessible.
- Ensure all facilities comply with health and safety regulations
- Conduct safety inspections
- Be responsible of the Burglar and Fire Alarm system, liaise with Chubb to manage the service and report any issue
- Test fire alarms, emergency lighting, and other safety systems.
- Conduct safety drills and checks to ensure staff are familiar with emergency procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date records of compliance.
Cleaning
- Keep basement and flat roof clean, swept and free from rubbish
- Inspect and maintain outdoor areas, ensuring they are free of litter and debris
- Keep steps clear of rubbish except when rubbish bags are left out for collection
- Ensure all waste is disposed of properly and recycling procedures are followed.
- Keep pavement along by boundary wall free from weeds and rubbish
- Empty the Archive room in the basement in order to create a theatre
Routine Maintenance
- Regular inspection and maintenance of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and structural elements.
- Address minor repairs such as painting, replacing light bulbs, and repairing door handles.
- Contact external contractors for major repairs
- Schedule and oversee any contracted maintenance services or repairs.
- Update maintenance logs and records of completed tasks and repairs
- Meet with HR & Operations Manager to review the facility’s maintenance status and discuss any upcoming needs or projects.
Support to organise our classes and events
- Assist in setting up and rooms for children classes, Library and Coffee space for events, install exhibitions
Inventory Management
- Keep track of maintenance supplies
- Ensure that all necessary tools and materials are available and in good condition.
- Report immediately if anything is misfunctioning or need to be adjusted
Skills:
- Experience in building maintenance,
- be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
Conditions:
37.5 hours per week:
Fully on-site at 1 Kildare Street, Dublin 2

In May 2025, we proudly opened our own café: Madeleine. Named after the iconic French sponge cake so dear to Marcel Proust, Madeleine is fully managed by Alliance Française and sources its products exclusively from trusted partner companies.
Initially offering a sweet menu with coffee and French pastries, the café is now expanding into savoury options, including toasted sandwiches, soups and more to come .
The Purpose:
• Ensure excellent customer service,
• Handle ordering, perform a wide range of café duties
• Take meticulous pride in the presentation of the café
Reporting:
The Café assistant will report directly to the Café Manager.
Key Areas of responsibility:
• Deliver exceptional levels of customer service across all areas of the café
• Warmly engage with customers to ensure the best possible experience from both service and food and beverage.
• Assist with basic food preparation, restocking ingredients, and tracking use-by dates (quiche, croque monsieur, pastries…)
• Prepare and serve a variety of drinks and food item with precision and consistency
• Provide friendly and efficient customer service, ensuring every guest receives a personalized coffee experience
• Operate espresso machines and other coffee equipment with skill and proficiency
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the café, including the espresso bar and service areas
• Ensure compliance with all legislation, H&S and food hygiene.
• Contribute to menu development and suggest creative ideas to enhance the customer experience
• Uphold our commitment to quality by following established brewing techniques and standards
Skills:
• Hospitality experience in a food service
• Barista experience
• Hands-on experience with professional coffee machines
• Excellent customer service skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanour
• FSAI Level 1 and 2 an advantage but not a requirement
• French is required
Compensation and Benefits:
– Usual hours of work: 30 hours per week, from Tuesday to Friday
– Place of Work: 1 Kildare street, Dublin 2
