THE FRENCH LIBRARY 10th ANNIVERSARY
Thursday 14th & Friday  15th December 2006

Festival. The Alliance Française Dublin and the Cultural Service of the French Embassy joined forces in October 1996 to create the authentic French Library. Today, with a vast collection of more than 22,000 titles, the Médiathèque Française is the largest of its kind in Ireland. To celebrate this 10th Anniversary we are organising a two day programme :

Thursday 14th
10am - 6pm : Giant Book
Fair in the Café des Amis (ground floor of the Alliance) with new and second-hand novels, comics, art books, history books, dictionaries and lots more.
8pm : Cineclub. Screening of A Bout de Souffle by Jean-luc Godard, the first DVD ever purchased by the Médiathèque. This will also be a way to celebrate the 10th anniversary this month of the DVD format. The screening will take place in the Library and is free of charge but booking is required. Subtitles will be provided.

Friday 15th
10am - 6pm : Giant Book Fair
in the Café des Amis. (see Thursday)
7pm : Table Quiz in the Café des Amis. Rounds will cover aspects of French culture: literature, cinema, food, sports, etc. There will be numerous prizes to be won, including French Courses and Library memberships. Open to Library members and Alliance students. Entry fee is 3 euro per contestant to include a complimentary glass of wine.

So you think you know everything about the Médiathèque ? Ok, we challenge you to complete a Fun Questionnaire on the Library during the two days of celebrations… and win a super prize. Questionnaires will be available at the Médiathèque and at Reception.
