This news letter is designed for our students, partners and friends as well as our own staff. This is where you will find all the information about our forthcoming events and everything new in the life of the Alliance Française in Dublin.

PASCALE HULIN
EXHIBITION

Pascale Hulin works with recycled materials, fabric, plastic, cardboard, paper etc…. these materials are assembled to create high-relief pieces and become part of the canvas.
This approach introduces new materials to an industrial environment with the work of Art making the finished product a witness of our time. Pascale finds some of her inspiration from trips abroad, impressions, colours, scent etc.

Opening Tuesday 6 December at 8pm. Admission free.

The exhibition will run until Tuesday 10th January 2006.

Santa will visit the Alliance Française on the morning of Saturday 17th December !
So be sure your children don't miss their last class of the year, there might be a little something for them !

STUDENTS
TABLE QUIZ 2005

Once again the Alliance Française is glad to invite its students to a table quiz organised and hosted by its teachers.

All the quiz rounds are about different aspects of French culture : cinema, food, cinema, literature, sports, etc. We have numerous prizes for each member of the winning teams, including books, films and vouchers for a french course !

All levels are welcome. Don't be shy just because you are a beginner, our teachers will be there to help. Ask your teacher for details or how to register your team (no more than 4 students per team).

Registration is 3 euro per person. This price includes cheese and a complimentary glass of wine !

All participants must be registered students of the Alliance Française

A handcraft fair will be held during the quiz (jewellery, handbags and scarves) will be sold.

EXAMS
JANUARY 2006 SESSION

If you want to sit one of our exams in the January session, please contact your teacher soon if you are an Alliance student. If you are an external candidate please contact the Exam Service at :

The deadline for registration is
Friday 16th December 2005

The exams you can sit next January are the following : CEFP 1, CEFP 2 and Diplome de Langue (Alliance Française de Paris exams); TEF (CCIP exams); DELF A1, A2, B1, B2 (CIEP exams). If you're not familiar with exams you can find a complete description of all these certificates here.

Did you know ?

The well known Christmas carol O Holy Night is based on the Cantique de Noël, composed by Adolphe Charles Adam (1803-1856). The French lyrics are by Cappeau de Roquemaure.

FONTENOY LIAM MAC COIL

Liam Mac Coil will present his latest novel in Irish on the famous Battle of Fontenoy. The book will be launched by his excellency Frédéric Grasset, French Ambassador in Ireland.

Wednesday 7 December at 7pm Admission free.

French tuition for children

We provide French classes for children from 5 to 12 years old both on our premises and in local primary schools. Our teachers are highly experienced with children. They can capture their imagination through lively and stimulating activities using modern and attractive material. Classes closely follow children's development and abilities.
