BERTRAND TAVERNIER
& HENRI TEXIER

'HOLY LOLA' screening & concert

A French couple heads to Cambodia to adopt a child in Bertrand Tavernier’s examination of the First World’s childless and the Third World’s children, and the histories of class, race and colonialism that come between the two. Tavernier offers an almost documentary-like account of the adoption process, of Cambodia itself and of First Worlders in the Third World, with all the vast colonial legacies of mistrust, rage and frustration that implies.

As part of The French Film Festival Bertrand Tavernier will be there to discuss the subject with the audience after the screening and will introduce one of his heroes, Jazzman Henri Texier, who provided the score for Holy Lola. Texier returns to Ireland with his Strada Quintet for a unique performance of Holy Lola original soundtrack.

Screening : 6.30pm
followed by a debate
Concert : 9.30pm
