CONFERENCE IN
FRENCH STUDIES

Conference. Dislocation : a post-graduate conference in French Studies. While dislocation evokes alienation, disruption and the disintegration of meaning, it may also be viewed as productive, giving rise to new spaces of expression and orders of discourse.
The distance and disorientation experienced in a state of dislocation can provoke the uncanny, but might also foster reinterpretations of the boundaries of strange and familiar. This conference will examine dislocation both thematically and as a creative, figurative and conceptual space.
Through panels discussions  Irish, Scottish, English and French academics will explore the works of, among others, Proust, Albert Cohen, Lacan or Alain Resnais.
